Click here for more tricks and techniques. When mixing your skin tone, look at the inside of your wrist. What colors do the veins look like? If they look violet, then you would start by using violet and it's complementary color, yellow. You will probably need to add other colors as well, but his is a good starting point. If your hue is looking too ____ (yellow, green, orange . . .) add the opposite color to correct. For example, if it's looking too green, add red. How to Mix Colors:On your paint palette, gather small amounts of the colors you need. Usually, you will need less of the darker or cooler colors. (see the chart above) If I'm using violet and yellow as my base, I'll start by adding a very small amount of violet to my yellow. I'll continue doing this until the right base color appears. I may add a little green if it looks too red, or blue if it looks too orange. . . Because I have pale skin, I would load my paintbrush with the hue I made, and add it to my white. If it is still too light, I would add a bit more until it matches. It may dry a little darker. Once your brown looks like the right hue, decide how much white or black you will need to add.
