12/16/2019 FINAL PORTFOLIOFor your final project, you will build a PORTFOLIO page in your Weebly Portfolio. Add a new page and title it Portfolio. You will add the following 3 sections: 1. Self Portrait Who I am, Who I am not. You will work on concepts and shoots for a self portrait diptych. One self portrait will represent "I am" and the other will represent "I Am Not" Cindy Sherman is our muse as we consider composition, lighting, and character development in portrait photography (think back to our narrative photos.) If you have another photographer you admire, you can use them as inspiration too. * These should be new photos I am...
I am not...
2. Six Of Your Best place 6 photos that represent your best work. Layout is important! Please take care in the order you arrange these six photos. Use a gallery only if it works best for you, and doesn't crop your photos. Your photos should show your ability to master the following skills. One photo could show mastery of more than one category. * These should be previously shot photos
3. Photo Series Choose three photos that you think look great together. These photos should visually have a lot in common, and be something that you would hang on your wall at home as a set of three framed photos, in the order you've chosen. Save these as ONE PHOTO using Photoshop and export as a PNG. * These can be new or previously shot photos. Due During Finals |
It's the week before winter break ! ! ! When we get back, we start building our finals, so let's spend some time gathering ideas of photography we love. You are also going to start cleaning up your portfolio so it's something a future client would find helpful and intriguing. Here is a list of things you can do, to be in a good place when we get back from break. |
Getting Prepared
Getting Prepared
- Start by researching photography and photographers that capture things you are interested in. Add some photos, links or info to your My Aesthetics page to help guide your creative thinking for your final. You should have a minimum of 5 photos, with short explanations as to why you like them.
- Clean up your portfolio. Does your home page look interesting enough for a viewer to want to explore your other pages? Are your pages easy to understand, and your sections easily distinguishable? You may want to look at other professional photographer's pages.
- Find your favorite photos that you've taken this semester. Create a catalog in Light Room titled 'your last name' final portfolio. Now that you've mastered Lightroom and Photoshop :) start refining and editing your favorite pictures, and saving them to this new catalog.

Photoshop Tutorials
Create an area on your My Photography Research page titled Photoshop Practice. Post your final photo and a short artist statement (one for each tutorial) into this section.
IMPORTANT ETHICS REMINDER Please remember that a photo belongs to you ONLY if YOU composed the shot and HIT THE SHUTTER. There are exceptions, but in this class it is expected that you follow this rule. If you choose to take self portraits (which make great gifts for family!) you can use the timer function on your phone or school camera, and a tripod. Feel free to use a friend as a 'stand in' while you get your shot set up and focused.
MANAGE YOUR TIME These are due at the end of the week. The studio will be open during SOAR, so take advantage of it! :)
That means you have 5 hours and 9 minutes to complete these four tutorials. Keep in mind that some videos may be using an old version of Photoshop so your tools or functions may be in different locations. If you have a question, rewind the video and make sure your layers and masks look like the tutorial. Still can't figure it out? Google it, or ask a peer who has had success with it. Check the board for some keyboard shortcuts, and error message workarounds. Exp: Ctrl + c= Copy , Ctrl + V= Paste , Edit > Free Transform > Alt + resize tool
