What can I do to get my grade up?
1. Check Jumprope and Google Classroom for missing work.
2. If you have projects that you received a lower grade than you are comfortable with, you can revise and resubmit. - Just send me an email once you resubmitted so I know to reassess it.
3. Make sure you are putting in the work: participating in class, and our on-demand studio time. I have a 15-minute and 30-minute timer you can use, posted in our Google Classroom's Resources.
4. If you have any specific questions on a project, or questions on why you received the grade on a specific standard, email them to me or discuss in our next zoom class. I'm here to help.
Can I have my work reassessed (regraded) for a better grade?
Yes, most of the time, just ask. Reassessment opportunities are intended to offer students opportunities to improve skills and meet standards. If you are working hard during class, submit your work, and are unhappy with your grade, you can usually reassess. Send me an email once your updated work is submitted so I know it's waiting to be re-graded. There are exceptions. Reassessment opportunities are NOT a substitution for working during class time. Students who are showing an inability to use class time respectfully and efficiently (Studio Habits Standard) will not have the option to reassess. This includes having to be asked to remain in your assigned contact tracing seat, tech violations, or other disrespectful behavior that goes against our community space expectations.
What if I'm not good at _____, can I do something I'm more comfortable with?
The only way to get better at something is to practice, even if it pushes us outside of our comfort zone. Sometimes this means we make mistakes, or end up not liking the end result, but we learn a lot in the process. If we only do things that we find easy, we won't grow. Usually the answer to this question is, 'I want to see you give it your best try, using the resources available to you.'
Do I have to do the projects assigned, or can I choose what I'm doing?
The farther you advance in art classes, the more choice you gain. You are always welcome to pitch project ideas to me! If your pitched idea is approved, it will still need to meet the standards assigned to the original project.

FUN! We do a lot of playing and exploring with different mediums, like watercolor, gouache, ink, block printing and more! We also play a lot of art-games.
Expect to grow and learn techniques to help you leave class feeling like you've become a better: drawer, painter, art critic, creative thinker, problem solver, designer. . .
Although we do draw a lot, Studio Art is not a drawing club. We have standards to assess, techniques to perfect, and critique etiquette to master! So, expect to be pushed outside of your comfort zone, make mistakes, learn from them, and help others around you.
Participate in art shows, competitions, and exhibitions (if you want to) and have the opportunity to share your work with other. Plus, it looks great on college applications ;)
