5/13/2021 Doodle JournalBUILDING YOUR JOURNAL Use the steps below to build your Doodle Journal. We'll do this together as a class, but you can click on the image to make it larger if you find it helpful. 1. Gather 7 pieces of computer paper, and scissors. 2. Take one piece of paper and fold it in half. 3. Set it aside 4. Fold the remaining stack of paper. 5. Cut about 2 inches in on each side of the center crease. 6. It should look like this 7. Grab your single paper you set aside 8. Cut a small sliver out of the center of the crease. Start about 2 inches in and end about 2 inches before you get to the end. 9. You should have a hole like this. 10. Fold your stack of paper in half like a hotdog but don't crease it! 11. Slide your paper stack into the opening of your single piece of paper. 12. Gently wiggle the stack of paper flat, so the top locks into place. 13. Adjust the bottom as well. 14. Flatten everything out 15. Fold it in half, and you are DONE. All ABOUT ME PAGE These prompts will all go on ONE page, titled All About Me. This page is the first page in your sketchbook when you open it up (not the cover) You can see an example of mine here -> Tell us more about yourself, but rather than using words, draw your responses to the following questions:
TELL ME ABOUT IT Follow along with our class prompt on Google Classroom, and practice doodle journaling, inspired by Lynda Barry. It's a great way to reflect on events from the past or feelings you are having that you just need to get out. It's also a great way to promote creativity. If you are ever feeling at a lose for ideas, this illustrating exercise can help! Examples in the Direction Slides are from Lynda Barry's Instagram page. You can find a link here: The Nearsighted Monkey :) PINEAPPLE CAT Follow along with our class prompt. We'll create some super cool creatures for your Doodle Journal at the end of every class.
